Figure/Ground- Lindsay Feeney


In this image, I believe that positive and negative space is distributed evenly. When I first looked at the image I interpreted the picture as if the women's legs were there first and then the mens legs were added. In that case, I think it was really creative how the artist turned the negative spaces inbetween the women's legs into men's legs. However, one may also look at this image as if the men's legs were in the composition first. The fact that both the men's and women's legs are the same length and shown at the same angle helps the viewer to appreciate being visually fooled, in a way.
